The Chorizo Vela That Never Disappoints

Paprika provides the color and aroma. Slow curing gives it texture and that slightly acidic touch that only a well-made cured sausage can achieve. It's not an aggressive or excessively greasy chorizo; it's the chorizo that works equally well in a Tuesday sandwich as it does on a Sunday charcuterie board.

Each piece weighs approximately 200g and is presented in a vela (candle) format: straight shape, thin caliber, easy to slice cleanly and uniformly.

Chorizo made in Vic since 1964

Vic is not just the origin of La Casa dels Fuets. It is the region where the tradition of cured sausage has been perfected for centuries. The microclimate of the area favors a natural curing process that cannot be replicated just anywhere.

The recipe is simple and hasn't changed: lean pork, salt, paprika, and time. Each piece is made individually, following the same process that the family learned generation after generation.

How to Serve Sweet Chorizo Vela?

Take it out of the fridge 20-30 minutes before serving so that the paprika can release all its aroma. Slice it into half-centimeter rounds and serve it:

  • Alone, with country bread and olive oil
  • In a sandwich with cheese or fresh tomato
  • On a charcuterie board alongside other cured meats
  • As an ingredient in pasta, huevos rotos (fried eggs with potatoes), or legumes (add it at the end so it doesn't lose texture)

What Ingredients are in Sweet Chorizo Vela?

Chorizo vela is made with quality lean pork, salt, and paprika, which give this cured sausage its characteristic flavor. These are complemented by lactose, dextrin, and powdered milk, which help balance the texture and flavor profile.

Additionally, it contains natural spices, stabilizer (E-451), antioxidant (sodium erythorbate), preservatives (E-250, E-252), coloring (carmine), and natural flavors. All of this results in an intense cured sausage, full of nuances and gluten-free.

Frequently Asked Questions about Sweet Chorizo Vela

How long does it last once opened?

Once the vacuum seal is broken, consume it preferably within 4-6 days. Store it in the refrigerator wrapped in cling film to prevent it from drying out.

Can it be frozen?

Yes, although it's not ideal. Freezing can slightly alter the texture upon thawing. If you freeze it, do so before opening the vacuum seal and thaw slowly in the refrigerator.

Does it contain gluten?

No. La Casa dels Fuets' sweet chorizo vela is gluten-free. It does contain lactose and powdered milk.

What is the difference between sweet and spicy chorizo vela?

The base is the same: same lean pork, same curing, same artisanal process. The difference lies in the paprika. The sweet has a round profile suitable for all palates. The spicy adds cayenne for those who want more intensity.

Can I order just one piece?

Yes. A single piece has a starting price of €4. You can also combine it in a flavor pack if you want to try several cured meats at once.

Frequent Answered Questions

Although a fuet may seem like a simple thing, there is a lot to know.

How do we make our fuets?

Artisanally and naturally. Why complicate things? The production and curing process of our products is ideal for their preservation and consumption. We start with the base of Longaniza de Payés de Vic and Natural Fuet. From there, staying true to our essence, we craft our fuets by coating them one by one with natural ingredients (or, in other words, straight from grandpa’s garden).

How much do the cured meat pieces weigh?

Since this is an artisanal product, the weights are approximate. All our cured meats are made individually, so no two pieces will ever be exactly alike. However, here is an approximate guide to the weights of our pieces:

Fuet: 150g / Chorizo: 150g / Secallona: 150g / Longaniza de Payés de Vic: 500g / Longaniza D.O.: 300g / Sobrasada: 450g

Is there a difference between buying in-store?

Even though this is our only non-artisanal sales channel, we believe that more than 50 years of working with the origins and values passed down by past generations guarantee the high quality of every bite we bring to your table. That’s why we want to give you the chance to enjoy our product within 24/48 hours. We want you to be our best judge.

And if that weren’t enough, at La Casa Dels Fuets, we are lucky to have a close-knit, family-based team that makes sure our process remains just as it was on day one.

If you have one of our stores nearby, you can immerse yourself in the experience of aromas and flavors—and leaving without tasting a bite of your favorites is strictly forbidden! If not, you can always order through our website or visit one of the artisan markets we attend every week.

When to eat fuet?

Fuet is always present and can be enjoyed in many ways. Luckily, fuet can be eaten at any time of the day—it’s the perfect addition to breakfast, an appetizer, or lunch. It’s also great for an afternoon snack or as part of a delicious charcuterie board for dinner.

Let’s set the scene. You get home after a long day at work… That craving won’t wait! Or what about those moments when you welcome your loved ones? You have to treat them to a good tapa!

It doesn’t matter when, where, or how—you can enjoy fuet whenever you feel like it.

Is vacuum packaging necessary? How will my order arrive?

First of all, we want you to know that for years, until 2022, we always shipped our fuets naturally, using the traditional paper wrapping. In 2023, we introduced vacuum packaging for specific situations, such as traveling by plane with your fuets or storing a large supply at home. However, at La Casa Dels Fuets, we recommend the traditional packaging if you plan to consume your fuet immediately or within a few days.

As part of our company policy and our commitment against plastic waste, La Casa Dels Fuets ensures that vacuum-sealed orders are packaged in packs, avoiding individual plastic bags for each unit.

Help us take care of our planet!

When will I receive my order?

Orders are delivered within approximately 24/48 business hours (for mainland areas) or from 72 hours (for islands or other countries) after completion.

Orders placed before 1:00 PM are picked up by the transport company on the same day.

Orders placed after 1:00 PM are picked up the next business day.

The transport company collects orders from Monday to Friday and delivers them on the same days.

No deliveries are made on weekends or public holidays.

If any product is out of stock after you have placed an order, you will receive an email notification. You can then choose to wait for restocking or exchange it for another product of the same value.

During peak seasons (such as Christmas), delays may occur due to increased order volumes and shipping demand.

How can I track my order?

All orders include a tracking number, which we receive from the transport company a few hours after pickup.

If you haven’t received an email with tracking details within 24 business hours after placing your order:

Check your SPAM folder.

If you still don’t see it, contact us at infocasadelsfuets@gmail.com.

Once you receive your tracking number, you can click on it to view your order details.

If the tracking page gives an error or does not display your order’s history, copy the tracking number and access the courier’s official website directly. Enter your tracking number and shipping postal code to check your order status.

The courier will attempt delivery twice at the provided shipping address. If they are unable to deliver due to absence on both attempts, your order will be available for pickup at the nearest designated collection point.

Delivery time and date depend on the courier’s route, so La Casa Dels Fuets cannot guarantee an exact delivery time for any order.
